Speed vs Velocity: The Key Difference
Speed is a scalar quantity that represents how fast an object is moving. It has magnitude only.
Velocity is a vector quantity that represents the rate of change of displacement. It has both magnitude and direction.
Common Mistake: Confusing speed and velocity, especially ignoring direction in velocity.
Visual Example
Speed (magnitude only)
Velocity (magnitude + direction)
Notice how the blue dot moves steadily in one direction showing speed.
The red dot moves forward then comes back showing velocity changing direction.
